paragliding morocco at sunset

7 nights £400 +flight - Just checked Thompson £85 ret/gatwick agadir

You are invited to join us at the sublime paragliding sites we have found south of Agadir where the Moroccan Atlas Mountain range runs into the Atlantic ocean. It is at the same latitude as Lanzarote and though it has the same temperatures the winds are lighter giving better conditions for paragliding.Flying the dream

In this part of Morocco the coastline is a long line of hills which gives perfect dynamic soaring in the ocean breeze. One has all of the advantages of places like Dune de Pyla but land on wide open pastures so you don't collect a paraglider full of sand and salt.

The mountains are rugged black granite with a sparse covering of cacti and grass. We know many launch sites with good thermal potential. To be honest paragliding XC in the area is only really possible after a period of apprenticeship. Thermalling in the region of the launch and the landing area is mind blowing enough - just for the biblical environment.

The people are kind and welcoming. They are multicultural with much left from the French colonial times. The tradition is predominantly 'open' Muslim. When there during Ramadan Joan would walk freely through the city in western dress and feel safer than in some European cities.

We've had a fab time paragliding in Morocco before.

We will be back again this year and staying at a class hotel - private en suite rooms overlooking the beach, Air con, TV, phone the lot. 2 restaurants one Moroccan one international.

We will also take lots of toys - definitely more stuff for the beach and surf.

By the way it's also a great place for the wife and kids with a lot of interesting places to visit.

If you're interested email Maroc2007 and we'll put you on the mailing list

The starting point

This year you will have more independence.

We will arrange your accommodation and transfers to and from Agadir airport.

Once settled in you can join in all or any of the activities taking place.

Daily there will be places to go and things to do but you can also chill out and enjoy the beach and the town.

The options

Every day we plan one or more 'expeditions'

Here are some we've done before:-

Paragliding explorations - along the coast or inland - they might involve a bivouac to enjoy the evening and morning flying.

The painted desert at Tafrout - here a Belgin artist painted the desert blue

The Medina at Agadir perfect for shopping as it is full of artisinal shops where you see the craftsmen and women at work and trade directly with them.

The ancient city of Tiznit famous for its silver.

The picturesque fishing village of Essaouira.

Planning - It's your holiday and you can make an input if you like

We can fly from the hill behind our base hotel and have fun in the area but you will want to eplore so get started. It's a bit slow but fun.

Check out these sites by clicking on the blue circles. You will need Google Earth.

.

These are four of the sites I know and we may use.

Joan (Chunky is coming too) and I have been to all these places and dined at the hotel. Excellent quality of service cleanliness everything. We regretted not using it as a
base.

At Leg Zira there's a great guy Abdulla who does simple accommodation and good seafood - you can fly the cliff above the beach or from the high ridge further back.

Nid d'Aigle - nice place for meeting people as most pilots visit there.
The brain child of Fench pilot Francois. Good tajine and couscous
loads of atmosphere. Again good flying can be had.

The two inland paragliding sites are near Tafroute. Definately a place to visit. Some jolly Belgian artist went out and painted the desert bue.

Do use Google for a tour of Morocco. If you spot places you'd particularly like to visit let me know.
